Iran ranks second among Non Aligned Movement states with monthly production of 1.15 million tonnes of crude steel.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Iran ranks second among Non Aligned Movement states with monthly production of 1.15 million tonnes of crude steel.According to a source, among NAM members, only 17 nations are producers of crude steel. India is the first crude steel producer with monthly production of 6.6 million tonnes.Iran produced 8.4 million tonnes of crude steel during 7 months of 2012 which has grown by 8.1% against the same period of 2011.India produced 44.5 million tonnes of crude steel in 2012 indicating a 3.4% rise against 2011.Egypt, South Africa and Saudi Arabia rank third, fourth and fifth among NAM states with monthly crude steel production of 590,000 tonnes, 580,000 tonnes and 282,000 tonnes respectively.Belarus, Uzbekistan, Cuba, Guatemala, Trinidad and Tobago, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Algeria and Morocco are other steel producers of NAM.India, Iran and Egypt rank fourth, 17th and 24th worldwide with annual steel output of 72.2 million tonnes, 13 million tonnes and 6.5 million tonnes.More than 5 million tonnes of crude steel were produced during the first 4 months of current Iranian year showing an increase of 7.6% compared to the figure for the corresponding period of the preceding year.Some 280,200 tonnes of steel ingots were produced by Khuzestan Steel Company during July 22nd to August 21st 2012. KSC manufactures some 3.3 million tonnes of steel ingots and products annually./129
